USF has played to have a central role in ensuring future generations know that civil rights story of the sit-ins that desegregated Tampa lunch counters in the 1960s, doing so through a historic marker, books and now a play and documentary.

USF memorializes former President Jimmy Carter with 3D virtual tour of boyhood farm
Prior to his death, USF鈥檚 Center for Digital Heritage and Geospatial Information partnered with President Jimmy Carter and the National Park Service to create virtual tours of his boyhood farm, high school he attended and railroad depot that served as campaign headquarters for Carter鈥檚 successful 1976 presidential bid. Check out the interactive tours available to the public.

USF Libraries preserves local African American history
A bountiful repository of local African American artifacts spanning more than 150 years provides a glimpse into the community鈥檚 lives, struggles and achievements in Tampa Bay. Rare books, personal papers, photographs and even property records are available in the USF Tampa campus library, the Nelson Poynter Library at USF St. Petersburg and online.

Kristina Keogh has been named the new dean of the Nelson Poynter Memorial Library at the USF St. Petersburg campus. Keogh comes to USF after being the director of library services for the past six years at the Alfred R. Goldstein Library at Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, FL.
