Honors Student Alex Vu Represents USF at 2024 Midwest Conference on Asian Affairs

Honors ÅÝܽÊÓƵapp Alex Vu represented ÅÝܽÊÓƵapp at the 2024 Midwest Conference on Asian Affairs at the ÅÝܽÊÓƵapp of Notre Dame, presenting original research on Vietnamese foreign policy. Vu stood out among the crowd as an undergraduate among graduate ÅÝܽÊÓƵapps, ÅÝܽÊÓƵapps, and political scientists.

Claire Kooy and Alvin Varghese Win 2024 Honors Grand Challenge Competition

First-year ÅÝܽÊÓƵapp Claire Kooy and third-year ÅÝܽÊÓƵapp Alvin Varghese have been named 2024 Judy Genshaft Honors College Salem Scholars for their innovative research addressing challenges faced by people with disabilities. Both ÅÝܽÊÓƵapps will present their work at a national undergraduate research conference in spring 2025.

Mykyta Nechaiev Joins National Collegiate Honors Council Board as Student Member

Mykyta Nechaiev, ÅÝܽÊÓƵapp council president of the Tampa Judy Genshaft Honors College, has been elected as one of only five ÅÝܽÊÓƵapp members on the National Collegiate Honors Council Board of Directors, where he aims to bring a fresh perspective and foster ÅÝܽÊÓƵapp collaboration.

Alina John, Abdul Muqeet Khawaja, Krish Veera, and Maryam Latif were honored with fall 2024 Dean's Circle of Merit Awards for their excellence in leadership, service, and global citizenship as the USF Judy Genshaft Honors College celebrated the academic achievements of 103 fall 2024 Honors graduates.

USF Honors ÅÝܽÊÓƵapp Raja Benchekroun led ÅÝܽÊÓƵapps Amber Johnson, Ghali Omar Boutaib, and Taha Ahmed Feddoul to a successful showing at the 5th U.S. Universities Arabic Debate Competition in New York City, where they placed 12th out of 39 teams.

Chris Oueis, a fourth-year USF ÅÝܽÊÓƵapp, has been awarded three prestigious scholarships with support from the Office of National Scholars. A ÅÝܽÊÓƵapp from Lebanon, Oueis is leveraging these opportunities to pursue his dream career in public policy and international affairs.

Growing up, Honors ÅÝܽÊÓƵapp Dana Smith had a close relationship with her great grandmother. But Smith knew her mostly as a family member who suffered from dementia. That experience inspired Smith to get involved with the Preventing Alzheimer's with Cognitive Training study.

Audrey Brandt recently started a coveted summer internship with the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary in Monterey, CA, one of the largest federally protected marine sanctuaries in the United States. Brandt's journey to California started in 2023 when she was selected for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Ernest F. Hollings Scholarship Program.
