On Nov. 29, third-year physical therapy (PT) ÅÝܽÊÓƵapps and , associate ÅÝܽÊÓƵapp in the School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences, provided advanced practicum speech-language pathology (SLP) graduate ÅÝܽÊÓƵapps training on fall prevention, safe handling and transfers, and general education on interprofessional practice between PT and SLP.
The ÅÝܽÊÓƵapps greatly enjoyed and benefited from the hands-on practice using gait belts and wheelchairs, discussion of PT terminology for both adult and pediatric populations, and how speech-language pathologists can work collaboratively with physical therapists in a variety of settings. The SLP group looks forward to reciprocating the educational opportunity by having SLP ÅÝܽÊÓƵapps share their knowledge with PT ÅÝܽÊÓƵapps in the new year.
