Shanghai Ranking

As of 2024, the USF Department of Communication has ranked in the top 75 among 200 world universities, according to Shanghai Ranking!

Shanghai Ranking rates world universities in 55 academic areas (natural sciences, engineering, life/medical sciences, and social sciences) including communication.

Rankings are based on five areas:

• World-class faculty (e.g., faculty who are international award laureates, highly cited, chief editors of international journals, leaders of academic associations)
• World-class output (e.g., # publications in 鈥渢op鈥� journals, international awards)
• High-quality research (e.g., # publications in Q1 journals from 2019-2023)
• Research Impact (e.g., ratio of citations to published articles)
• International collaborations (e.g., publications with authors from 2+ countries)

In 2024, USF ranked in the 51-75 range in Communication among 200 world universities. 2024 is the first year USF has been ranked in the top 100 since rankings of specific academic areas began in 2017.

Communication is one of a small number of academic areas at USF ranked in the top 100, along with Library & Information Sciences, Transportation Science & Technology, Hospitality & Tourism Management, Oceanography, Nursing, and Education.
